Supplier name: Modu.Digital LTD
Publication date: 1st June 2025
Commitment to achieving net zero
Modu.Digital Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, in line with the UK Government target. As a remote-first digital consultancy, Modu’s environmental impact is primarily associated with Scope 3 emissions, particularly from cloud services, IT procurement, and limited commuting or business travel. We continuously monitor and reduce these emissions through responsible operational practices.
Baseline emissions footprint
Baseline Year: 1 June 2024 – 31 May 2025
Our emissions baseline is calculated based on remote working operations, employee commuting, cloud services, and IT procurement.
Scope | Description | Emissions (tCO₂e) |
Scope 1 | Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources | 0 |
Scope 2 | Indirect emissions from purchased electricity | 0 |
Scope 3 | Other indirect emissions (see breakdown below) | 1.88 |
Total Emissions | 1.88 |
Scope 3 emissions breakdown
In accordance with PPN 06/21, Modu reports on all five mandatory Scope 3 categories. Where data is unavailable or categories are not relevant to our operations, this is clearly stated.
Category | Status / Commentary |
Upstream transportation and distribution | Not applicable – Modu delivers digital services; no physical goods are transported. |
Waste generated in operations | Minimal waste due to remote operations. Shared office space uses recycling facilities and digital documentation to minimise paper waste. |
Business travel | Limited business travel. Most client engagement is remote. When required, train travel is prioritised over air or car travel. |
Employee commuting | Most employees work remotely. For occasional office or client visits, low-emission transport and carpooling are encouraged. |
Downstream transportation and distribution | Not applicable – no physical distribution of products or materials. |
Emissions Reduction Targets and Projects
We aim to achieve the following targets:
• Maintain zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions through renewable energy, remote working, and cloud-based operations.
• Reduce Scope 3 commuting emissions by 50% by 2028 through carpooling and train travel.
• Offset all residual emissions annually from 2025 onwards.
Carbon Reduction Projects:
Completed / Ongoing:
• Shared office using 100% renewable energy.
• Use of Microsoft Azure cloud services, which are increasingly powered by renewable sources.
• Minimal business travel and reliance on virtual meetings (Microsoft Teams, Google Meet).
Planned:
• Introduce sustainable commuting policy encouraging carpooling and train travel.
• Offset emissions via certified carbon offset schemes.
• Recycle or responsibly dispose of IT hardware.
